There are quite a number of reasons why I eventually took this step. Don't call me a coward but there's a lot I fear about facebook. I'm in no mood to start explaining them here. I'll just rush through why I eventually decided 'It was time'.
First, I wanted to cut out people I don’t want to know more easily. I had lots of 'friends'. Trust me, the quotes aren't there just for fun. I don't believe that there’s too much passive-aggressive behaviour on Facebook. If you find it offensive, you probably are an old man/ mamma. Or a staunch Christian, talk of my classmate Wiki?
Then I came to realize that I had forgotten how to surf the internet for interesting content. The days when Wise Geek, How Stuff Works and Engineering Minds were punctuated by a 30 minute pick into Born Silly
Although I had come to suppress this, I still think that I checked Facebook far too often...more than the check-ins on 4sq! This has to be true- the novelty had completely worn off. You can't compare fb 11 to my adventurous fb 08/09!! i met people online who eventually became the loves of my life..without any regrets! Nowadays my sisters are on facebook. Mind you, the eldest has a 6 year gap in age between me and her. then my mom is there and also some great family friends (adults). Well, let's just say my tie on facebook is over.
You do realize that most of my Facebook concerns are not security concerns. Asides from managing my settings and photos, my reasons for quitting Facebook are of a more social nature. The fact that I don’t have to worry about one more aspect of my internet security is an added bonus though!
Say +1? You better!
